Posted 03/28/2005 Toronto, ON DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS The Writers Guild of Canada, the national association representing more than 1,800 professional screenwriters working in English-language film, television, radio, and new media, is looking for a Director of Communications. Location: downtown Toronto Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Communications will be responsible for: o Developing and maintaining ongoing relationships with the media and other industry organizations. o Writing press releases, articles, reports, member communications and other materials including content for the WGC website.
o Providing research support to senior management.
o Developing and executing communications campaigns for all Guild activities. o Event and seminar planning and organization, including identifying and securing partnership, sponsorship and/or funding from government and industry contacts where necessary. o Assisting with preparation of in-house magazine, including some writing and editing, as well as coordinating advertising queries.
Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential. Qualified candidates will have five+ years communications experience, a degree in journalism or communications, and a background in the film and television industry. Must have the ability to set and meet tight deadlines in an environment of rapidly changing priorities. Bilingualism is a definite asset. The WGC offers a full benefits package.
