Letter Writing

Job Application

i am applying for a job at the air port for work experience and i have been asked to write a job application letter.

here is my first draft:

To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing to enquire about the possibility of being placed with your organization for work experience. I would be extremely grateful to be considered for an opportunity to experience working for your company, anytime after July.

Work experience is intended to provide an insight in to an individuals' desired line of work. From this experience I hope to gain that very insight to tell me whether getting into Air Transport Management is the path I want to follow. Along side studying Air Transport Management, I would also like to be a Pilot.

Currently, I am 16 years of age and a student at St. Christophers’ School. I am studying A-Level’s in ICT, Maths, Physics and Chemistry (AS) as one of my elective subjects. I have a particular interest in ICT, Physics and Maths. ICT has helped me to develop a skill of touch typing rather quickly. It has also helped me keep up to date with technology and taken to me a greater depth with the understandings of how computers work. I have learnt in more depth of using Microsoft Office suite such as Access and Excel, by using them to create projects for my course, such as the Quad Rental System I created for my GCSE ICT Coursework (in Access) and received an A* for it, and produced a project for St. Christophers School, on ‘Sports Day Results and Analysis’ using Excel for my AS level project.

As I want to also be a pilot along side with Air Transport Operations, Physics is also vital. Pilots have to have a strong understanding of subjects like fluid mechanics- which relates to air moving over the wings and control surfaces of the plane- and studying Physics gave me a strong foundation in many other applicable fields.

By studying Mathematics at A-Level, I believe that I have developed the analytical skills I need. Mathematics is a very important subject because of the way it nurtured in me an appreciation for both the pure and the applied parts of the subject. Mechanics was a particularly useful module as it fostered an understanding of the factors that determine flight. Likewise, Physics is also vital.

I am prepared to learn from whatever task i am given, and i intend on completing it to the best of my ability. I hope I can learn a great deal from this work experience and that it will guide me in the future. This, I feel it will would be invaluable, first-hand experience that will give me an insight about working in your organization.

I very much look forward to hearing from you.

Yours faithfully,

Habib Khan
