Jin Yong'heroes

Who do you think it is the best hero in his books? To me, when I look back, I don't think I like none of them. It seems that I don't like their personalities. The way I see them they are too perfect as heroes; however I like Yang Gue in Return of the Condor. But when his uncle's daughter choped his hand, he didn't not revenge. That I didn't like it. Overall, his personality is pretty good. That sounds like American. Another thing is that I like him who devote too much to his lover.

No, however, I've watched the tv series based on his books in Cantonese and Mandarin. I was a big fan of his. I used to watch most his work on tv series over and over again. Indeed, he was a big influence to me until American culture took it ver.

The TV series aren't always faithful to the books. The books are much better.

I like Yi Tian, Tien Long, and Xiao Au.

Thank you Julie. Now I have a second thought. I think reading the books maybe change my mind. Maybe I will like some heroes that I never like them before when I read his work.

I still like Yang Gue. He is a rebel type in the series. What I admire him the most is his devotion to his lover.

I have never liked Yang myself. Don't know why. Perhaps a bit too egocentric or something.

I like some of the minor characters in Yi Tian, but not the hero. :-)

I don't like Yang because he isn't a very believable character, at least to me. The whole love affair doesn't strike me as real. Perhaps Louis Cha hasn't planted enough clues early on to make the love affair believable.

In the newly revised version, Yang fell for the 16-year-old (Kwok Seung), though he did wait for his wife.

I like the 1977 version too, but I thought the princess died in that one...
