Muslims do not believe that Isa (A.S.), also known as Jesus by Christians and others, is dead or was ever crucified. We believe that he was raised to heaven and is there, and will descend at the appointed time, end all wars, and bring peace to the world. Like Jesus (A.S.), Muhammad (Peace be upon him) is also a Prophet and Messenger. Muhammed (P.B.U.H.) is the last Prophet, though, and there is none after him. Hence, Islam is the last religion, complete, with the Holy Qur'an as the unchanged and perfect word of *** for over 1400 years, as *** promised to preserve it till the last day for all of humankind, unlike sacred texts of other religions which have mulitple versions and are "revised" periodically. ***, or Allah in Arabic, is Divine and Supreme Being and Creator. What the Holy Qur'an says about Jesus: They slew him not, nor did they crucify him but it was made dubious to them. Some conceptions must be clarified seeking for better understanding for all who read the posts. <ol> <li>I am a little bit hesitant to answer these questions. The reason is that these are fundamental beliefs in Islam. Not a mere person posting here or there can simply replay. We as people may commit mistakes unintentionally because we want to answer. I am not here to deny the efforts of those who try to convey a proper message. But all my fear is that they convey it insufficiently.</li> <li>For your questions Steven Mc , I'll try to shed some light on the subject hoping you got the meaning. All what miss. M said about the prophet Jesus is true in Islam. Why Mohammad is not the chosen is because he had already died and prophet Jesus is the chosen and the honorable one to come back. True is Mohammd is the last messenger because he brought about the religion of Islam, the true religion as we believe till the day of Judgment. When Jesus come back at the end of the world, he's not going to bring a new religion. As Muslims we believe that the essence of Islam is to believe in ***, the creator of the whole universe , with NO partner. And ALL messengers of *** were sent to deliver the same message to their peoples. I mean by all including Jesus and Moses. No one claimed that he was a son of *** which as Muslims believe is an offensive thing to the Almighty ***. </li> <li>Now all messengers call for the same cause. We believe in Bible (the true Bible) but not in 7 or 9 versions of it. King …. version!! Each Christian Sect believe in a different one. So we think that many words of men have been put in the original version. And the diversity of the Bible proves so.</li> <li>The Quran is ONE book since its revelation. Though there are many sects in Islam, yet ALL Muslims believe in authenticity of the Quran, the true word of ***. And we believe as well in the rules and things said in the Quran. About Jesus, we found in the Quran "O People of the Book ! exceed not the limits in your religion, and say not of ALLAH (***) anything but the truth. Verily, the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, was only a Messenger of ALLAH, and a fulfillment of HIS word which HE has sent down to Mary, and a mercy from HIM. So believe in ALLAH and HIS Messengers, and say not, `They are three.' Desist, it will be better for you. Verily, ALLAH is the only One ***. Holy is HE, far above having a son. To HIM belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth. And sufficient is ALLAH as a guardian." Verse n.171 chapter 4. Another verse " And when ALLAH(***) will say, `O Jesus, son of Mary, didst thou say to men, `Take me and my mother for two gods beside ALLAH ?' he will answer, `Holy art THOU, I could never say that which I had no right. If I had said it, Thou wouldst have surely known it. Thou knowest what is in my mind, and I know not what is in Thy mind. It is Thou alone WHO art the Knower of all hidden things; `I said nothing to them except that which Thou didst command me - Worship ALLAH, my Lord and your Lord…etc" verse no. 116-7 chapter 5.. I'd never consider Catholic, Orthodox and Protestant Churches as "sects!"I'm Catholic, and maybe you've never heard about Ecumenism. Hi Anon,, Thank you for reading my post and I tried to do the same with your own post. I mostly agree with your last statement about the efforts that should be exerted from both sides so as not to misunderstand each other. I am sorry to say that I am much more hestiant now to replay, not because of my lack of ability to answer or something concerning my belief in Islam which ,thanks to ***, increase day after day, but due to my deep belief that I am responsible of each word I said and I will be accounted for it. Also I am afraid someone would misunderstand me. Anyway, the reason I say Jesus is not going to bring a new religion is to verfiy to Mrs. Steven Mc that Mohammad is indeed the last prophet who brought the last religion.The choice of Jesus to come back later is not to be cosidered that he is the last massenger or would bring a new or last religion. So we believe that Jesus is an adovacte for the same message Prophet Mohammad called for. Worship *** alone with NO partner, as well as ALL the massengers since Adam till Mohammad (Peace and blessings be upon all of the massengers of ***). Concerning the excerpts you cited from the Bible, I have mentioned earlier that I believe in the Bible that was sent down to Jesus (pease be upon him) but not in these versions which we found today. We believe ,as Muslims, that the original Bible was distorted by the people who followed Christianty later and many words of MEN have been inserted. Anyhow, thank you very much for replying and I sincerely hope that we live in a more compromising world, looking for points of agreement not these of disagreement and most importantly not to attack each other. Actually, Steven, I'm not sure that Jesus does say that. In many cases, others say it to him, but does he ever say "Yes, I am." I know that it says he counters Satan when Satan says so, and at one point he says something like "You say that I am," but can you find a verse in which Jesus says "I am the son of ***?"
