Jerry-rigged

Hi.
"the black smoke that poured out of a jerry-rigged copper chimney on the roof of the Sistine Chapel."

Came across this word - jerry-rigged - in a NY Times article today. I couldn't find it in any of my dictionaries. I know what 'jerry-built' means, but not this word. Please enlighten.

Thank you.
