Jerk VS Nod

hi guys,

I have a problem about "Nod and Jerk"

I'm not sure how different it is, the sentense is

"She looked down her nose at them and nodded hello, one quick jerk of the head."

What does its mean?

Thank you very much

Hi, A nod is sometimes used to greet another person, ie to 'say hello'. You can nod your head slowly, or with a quick, abrupt movement , ie by 'jerking' your head. Best wishes, Clive
