Jarred's study performance and behavior

The following is a teacher's report data to a parent. Please help correct it. Thanks a lot.

Jarred’s study performance and behavior at school
  1. Basically, Jarred is a naive, lively and lovely, kind-hearted boy. He likes PE class, and he is interested in special physical ability training, like endurance running, muscle strengthening.
  2. Jarred has moved to Taiwan since he was about 9 years in his third grade at elementary school. He has been here in Taiwan for about four years. However, his Chinese ability is still limited. For instance, his teacher asks every student to hand in his own head shot, a kind of passport size photo. But he can’t understand the meaning of “head shot” in Chinese.
  3. Before class is over, Ms. Ye writes down the school assignment, dos and don’ts, points for attention on the blackboard. Every student is required to copy these items to his own parent-teacher contact book. Then, Ms. Ye will read aloud the items and explain one’s job clearly.
  4. Jarred has the ability to copy these Chinese sentences from the blackboard, but he has difficulty understanding the meanings of them. So, his stepmother asked us teachers to help him advance his Chinese ability.
  5. Jarred seems to be absent –minded, and he has a bad memory. He often forgets to do his homework, or what he should have done. Sometimes, he even didn’t copy these items to his contact book just because of his laziness. Ms. Ye has to watch him closely all the time to write down these Chinese sentences.
  6. During summer training, Jarred took two times day off. One is because of his sickness, and the other is unknown.
  7. Before entering the Athletic Class, every student is asked to sign the Declaration of Consent, a written statement that one is willing to abide the regulations and instructions of living. According to the regulations of the Declaration of Consent, all the students of Athletic Class should come to school during summer and winter vacation. In the morning, students need to focus on their schoolwork. In the afternoon, they need to receive physical ability training.
  8. Jarred’s stepmother argued that she had planned to take Jarred back to Canada during this summer vacation, but her request was turned down by school. In fact, school didn’t forbid Jarred to come back to Canada. As long as he submits an applcation for hime leave, we will approve a leave of absence.
  9. Jarred’s stepmother also complained that the Ministry of Education has lifted the ban of schools' restrictions on hairstyles, giving students the basic right to choose how they want to look. She protested that Jarred was compelled to get short haircut, which not only deprived his basic rights as a student but also made him lost opportunities for shooting a commercial.
  10. According to the regulations of Declaration of Concent, every boy who enters the Athletic Class should get a short haircut. We treat every student equally favorably. Since we have explained the dos and don’t’s clearly in advance, and you have signed the Declaration of Concent, you don’t have the right to raise an objection or demur.
  11. Just as Jarred’s stepmother mentioned Jarred has got some opportunities to shoot a commercial, so he has to leave a long hair. However, he is just a boy. if he shoot a commercial during his study period, it will impede his right to educate and violate “the Protection of Children and Youth Welfare and Rights Act.” We might report it to the Social Affairs Bureau.
  12. As for the management of cellphones, we take a way of collective custody. Every student is asked to hand in his/her own cellphone and put it in a box which will be locked when it is full. After school, every student will get back his/her own cellphone. We are just for safekeeping them, not confiscating them. We hope that students should concentrate on their studies in class, not distracted by the ringing tone of cellphones. For instance, last Wednesday, Jarred’s cellphone rang in class, which disturbed the class.
  13. In a letter, you mentioned that Jarred had to carry his own cellphone with him all the time in case some bad guys bully him, so that he could call back home to you. However, it is going too far. You exaggerated too much. What you worried is groundless. School bullying is prohibited by official order and will be executed thoroughly. Every student receives a good care and is under teachers’ closely watching, so there is no need to worry about his safety. If he has an important matter to make a phone call, he can ask any teacher to inform his parents.
  14. If Jarred doesn’t agree to put his cellphone in collective custody, then he has to be responsible for consequence in case he lost his cellphone.
  15. On Wednesdays, we dismiss the class at 5:30.
  16. If Jarred can’t accept our regulations and instructions of living in Athletic Class, he has a right to transfer to an ordinary class, which doesn’t have haircut regulation.
  17. From this day on, we will directly inform you to discuss about Jarred’s study performance and behavior because you are Jarred’s guardian, but not his stepmother.
