Hello!On school we cover the subject JAPAN. I think it's interesting. Now we have to give speeches, my topic is:Life in Japan with natural disastersI am not specifically asking for any geographical advice, more on handling the disasters in Japan. So anybody who lives in Japan or lived there longer would make me happy with participating in this thread. Thank you!!Japan is a country with very many natural disasters. The most? Why is that?How do people in  live/deal with these disasters and the fear? What security installment have been built to keep the people save? How dangerous is it really to live in . Are some parts more dangerous than  others? Which ones and why?  What are the most common natural disasters?  Is there a lot of damage done every year because of disasters? Does anybody know some numbers?  Which are the disasters you are most scared of? Which are most dangerous?  How often do you really have disasters? Is there every month news   about a disaster any where on 's islands?  Do you have any security equippment at home, is that common?  Are there parts that are more affected than others? I do not live in Japan but I know that earthquake is the most common  natural disaster here. Earthquakes seem to occur daily. Of course, just  a few of them are strong ones.

well, I'm in "high school" (we do not call it hs in CH) and in geography we are currently learning about Japan. In class we have always topics. We have a topic, test, new topic, test, ...

So Japan is one of these topics and now we just have to give presentations.

Swiss JakeJapan is a country with very many natural disasters. The most? Why is that?

Yes, because Japan lies between the Pacific Plate and the Eurasian Plate, which are colliding all the time. As a result, Japan has to suffer a lot from the movement of two plates. The movement can cause earthquake, Vulcanian eruption and tsunami. In the history of Japan there're three deadly earthquakes. One happened in 1792, another happened in 1995, the biggest earthquake took place in the east of Japan in 1923 and had killed as many as 140,000 people.

Besides the disasters I've mentioned above, hurricane is also a threat to Japan.

The biggest earthquake I've mentioned maybe the most scared... But actually nowadays big earthquake doesn't take place often. Even if it would happen, the modern technic can make a precise report to reduce the damage to the minimum. And in my view, the practical dangerous is hurricane and tsunami. As Japan is a island country, he has to suffer them every year. Although the government know it would happen, but it's hard to deal with.

Japan is located on the circum-Pacific orogeny zone, and the route of typhoon.
those are main cause why Japan has many disasters.

To keep our lives, an earthquake drill is often held.
Many of schools, parks, and so on are defined as a place to take refuge from an earthquake.
a lot of foods, blankets, and so on is prepared in these places.

The most common natural disaster is an earthquake.
Yes, there is a lot of damage because of an earthquake, a typhoon, a thunder, a heavy rain and so on.

I think that the most scared disaster is earthquake.
Most dangerous is same, too. It breaks building ,paralyze transportation facilities, and makes Tsunami.

I sometimes have disasters. However, the number of disasters depends on a place.
I watch news of disasters about once every two month.

security equipment is common.
However, some people don't have any security equipment at home because some Japanese houses can withstand a big earthquake.
