I've heard or I head

If discussion about something was going on between me and my friend, what would I use in the sentence below and what would the use of particular tenses imply?

"I've heard about you a great deal of crazy stuff ."

"I heard about you a great deal of crazy stuff."

Are there any differences in the meaning or are these two usages of tenses interchangable in this particular instance?

Thank you in advance.
