I've got/got

Sentence from a movie:

I got houses in 10 different countries. Or

I've got houses in 10 different countries.

What's the difference between using I got and I've got?

And

You have got to be kidding me! And

You have to be kidding me! And

You gotta be kidding me!

What's the difference between the three and what changes if you use the present perfect tense?

Thanks for the support!

PreciousJonesCould it be the latest trend?
No. This reduced form has been in existence for at least 100 years! The people who write the subtitles do not usually correct grammar. They just write what is said in the movie, right or wrong.

Yes. It is certainly incorrect in writing.

In speech, however, we normally listen to the way others around us speak. Then we try to speak as they do. My guess is that if you talk to educated people, you will hear them say "I've got" when

I've got == I have got

However, "got" in this sentence is usually informal

better, more precise, and no ambiguity

Just say "I have"

As in "I have six children." "I have a cold."

etc.

"You must be kidding me" is probably the best choice of a literate. Emotion: smile
