The sentence is correct English. It is a rather stylised or even poetic sentence. I'm not sure if that was the intention.

If I added something more to the sentence as follows, using 'but' and 'will', would it be OK?

My girlfriend must admit that she is bound to break my heart, but in the end she will be truly sorry.

Again it is correct English.

Remember that your "girlfriend" is in theory someone that you are fond of, not someone that you want to see "truly sorry".
