Hello!
Can we say "I've been late" (the result: I missed the beginning of the film) or I've been hungry ( the result: I want to eat now)? The sentences sound strange, I'd use "I'm late/ I'm hungry". But I can't explain why to myself
Thank you
You should use past tense for the first sentence: I was late (so I missed the beginning of the film). [All this took place in the past] AND Use the present tense for the second sentence: I am hungry (so I want to eat now). [All this takes place in the present] You would use "I've been late" and "I've been hungry" when talking about past experiences in general, not at some particular time.
