"It's well known that ..." or "It is know to all that ..."

Here are some questions puzzle me. I would be appreciated if you could give me a hand.

1. It's well known that the lung cancer is caused partly by smoking excessively. 2. It is know to all that lung cancer is caused at least partly by smoking too much.

Which one above is right? Why?

Which one is better, "It's well known that ..." or "It is know to all that ...".

== Thanks for your help!
