It('s) vs that('s)

Hello, I was wondering if someone could tell me what the difference between these two sentences was. Is it just a matter of semantics or is one more correct than the other?

I suppose it comes down to heritage; that's the brand that resonates most with me, so that's what I wear

vs:

What's the real difference between it and that?

Thanks very much.

"That" could be used as a demonstrative pronoun so it could mean some gesturing taking place there. But other than that I don't see much difference.
