Its vs Its'

Hi! would someone clarify why some people write its' with the same meaning or use of its in a sentence. I've noticed this kind of usage from my British colleagues.
Many thanks!

Hi, I don't usually see this. The common error is writing it's when its is needed. Best wishes, Clive

Thanks Clive, but i'm sure that it's not "it is" what my colleague
meant in his sentences. I was thinking that this is something
British-ish.

With all due respect, I think it's just something wrong-ish. Some people can't let go of the concept that Peter's has an apostrophe and Mary's has an apostrophe, so "its" must have an apostrophe. Yet oddly, they can use hers and his without qualms.
