It's time we should ...

Hi: there,

my question is: are the following two sentences interchangeable?

it's time we should be at church. AND it's time we were at church.

(the latter is reformulated by me, according to the structure:"it's time you went to bed.", but i'm not sure about the correctness.)

thank you very much

Hi, It's fine. 'It's time we were at church' means we should have been at church now instead of doing something else (we're currently doing). Regards

hi, Regards:

so, can I say "it's time you should go to bed"?, if yes, is there any difference between "it's time you should go to bed" and "it's time you went to bed", with regard to popularity, context, etc.?

Hi,

It's time you were in bed / It's time you went to bed - Correct and common.

It's time you should go to bed - Wordy.
