It's strange to have/ having to wear...

According to grammar books, an adjective is followed by the TO INFINITIVE structure. For example: "It's good to know that"; "Nice to meet you"; etc. However, the following sentence sounds better this say:

"It's strange having to wear a uniform", rather than "It's strange to have to wear a uniform".

Am I right? Or are both correct? Why (not)?
