Hello

Someone writes about waking up from a dream and says: It’s rare that to the point of being nearly impossible to not wake up with a second attempt.

--- I'm wondering whether the word "that" is necessary? Maybe it would be OK to write: "It's rare, to the point of nearly impossible, to not wake up with a second attempt"?
