It's not passing muster

Howdy,

I'm wondering if the expression "to pass muster" actually passes muster in the continuous tenses Emotion: smile ? In other words, is it possible to say for instance

I don't think it's passing muster, we need to change the method

I'd don't think I've ever heard anyone use this phrase more than a handful of times in my entire life, so I really wouldn't worry about learning to use it!

well, actually I've come across it in a book... and I believe that it's kind of cool to know and use phrases that are not very common... isn't it?
