It's not as if ~

The protagonist, Philip moved in with his uncle Mr. Carey, the Vicar of Blackstable after his mother's death.
He goes to the medical school St. Luke's in London.
He came across his ex-girlfriend Mildred on the West End, found her being a prostitute, and she and her baby moved in with him.
Now, they came to the seaside village Brighton for the summer vacation and Philip took two rooms in a boarding house.
........................................
"I suppose you don't mind my sitting in the same room with you," said Mildred aggressively.
"Don't let's quarrel, Mildred," he said gently.
"I didn't know you was so well off you could afford to throw away a pound a week."
"Don't be angry with me. I assure you it's the only way we can live together at all."
"I suppose you despise me, that's it."
"Of course I don't. Why should I?"
"It's so unnatural."
"Is it? You're not in love with me, are you?"
"Me? Who d'you take me for?"
"It's not as if you were a very passionate woman, you're not that."
[Of Human Bondage by Somerset Maugham]
I'd like to know what "It's not as if you were a very passionate woman" means.

No, no, no. I use the symbol '~' to indicate that I'm giving a paraphrase of the original that may help the OP understand the meaning more easily.

It is not as if draws attention to an accepted fact (between the speaker and listener).

My rough paraphrase: We both know you're not a very passionate woman.
