It's nice to meet you = It's nice meeting you ?

a native speaker said the latter sounds warm.

I was confused because I've thought that nice to meet you is used at the start and nice meeting you at the end.

at the start

It's nice to meet you. ('s =is)

It's nice meeting you. ('s =is)

nice to meet you.

at the end

It's nice to meet you ('s = was)

It's nice meeting you ('s = was)

nice meeting you

is it right?

Kis, I am a native English teacher. You are right when you say that "It's nice to meet you" is at the start and "It's nice meeting you" is at the end. I think what the teacher was trying to say is that "It's nice to meet you" sounds a bit formal and stiff in our language.

Whatever you say, remember that it's never means it was.
