its narrow port

I would like to ask about the following sentences. What does the meaning of "port"? Does it mean port side or something else? Thanks in advance.

Jonas, nearing his home now, smiled at the recollection. Thinking, still, as he wheeled his bike into its narrow port beside the door.

Of course the word has several meanings. I think here it means a slot where he puts the bike. I picture a space between two buildings that are very close to each other.
