Is this sentence grammatically correct?

Shouldn't it be:

It's been 21 years since I was 5.

What's the difference between:

It's been 21 years since I was 5. And

It's been 21 years since I've been 5.

Hmm. Maybe you're right, and "since I was 5" is better, but frankly I don't sense any difference between the two. In my opinion you could say it either way. I doubt that any native speaker would feel that either one stand
