It's a long time.

It's a long time since the last time I had chocolate. Can you say that?

well, some of us no doubt can, but it wouldn't be true for me! You could also say "It's a long time since I last had chocolate"

I think "It's been a long time since the last time I had chocolate" sounds better, doesn't it?

Emotion: smile

What about it's been a long time since the last time I had chocolate topped with ice-cream?

@ learner - not realy better, just alternative, equally valid.

@ maj - LOL - dont you have chocolate on top of ice cream rather than ice cream on top of chocolate?

Thank you Suzi..

Yes, Maj.. I think it would be better if you put the chocolate on top..

But anyway, hope you could have had some this weekend.. I had a great chocolate cake yesterday!

Hi

Maj wrote "chocolate topped with ice cream"

and your answer suggests that it refers to "icecream on top of chocolate"

well if I cross out "with" and write "chocolate topped ice cream"

Will it then mean "chocolate on top of ice cream?"

If it will, then plz tell Maj he owes me a "chocolate topped ice cream" for crossing the "with" out

I think you are right, bubu.

Maj - you owe bubu some choc-topped ice-cream - consinder yourself "told" LOL

Dear suzi
what do you mean "consider youself told"

Could you plz explain the phrase, it's contextual meaning
0
It might be better if I'd typed it correctly!
"Consider yourself told" is an idiomatic expression you might use in a family, and occuring after an exchange almost exactly as it happened here, after you asked me "tell" maj something which was for your benefit!

It can occur in families when one kid asks a parent to "tell" a sibling something, maybe a reprimand or to do a chore. Yo

Lol, doesn't that sound interesting? I wonder what was for my benefit. What was it?
