It's a 80 20 thing

Someone says "It's a 80 20 thing" in a conference. What does it mean?

There's something called the 80/20 rule. You get 80% of your revenue from 20% of your customers, or you spend 80% of your time on 20% of your employees, etc. Basically, 80% of what happens is a result of 20% of the stuff that's out there.

  • It's also called the Pareto principle.
  • I'm not sure exactly what the person was referring to, but hopefully that gives you enough context.

Thanks. It helps, and I am able to read more on the Pareto principle in wikipedia.
