Correct but, a bit wordy. It would be simpler as: Does everyone have their own book?

I agree. But shouldn't it be books in agreement with their?

Actually no. In English there is no number agreement between a possessive and the noun it goes with. You can mix and match as you wish.

his book, their book, my book, our book
his books, their books, my books, our books

Thank you CJ.

I have a question.

When we say 'their book' we refer to one book which belong to more than one person.

But in the sentence here (OP), I think each is expected to have one. So, in that case is it OK we say 'their book'?

Yes. Think of it this way. English has a plural 'they' and a singular 'they'. The singular 'they' is used for cases where the gender (he, she) is unknown or general (both, either), as when used with indefinite pronouns like 'everybody' or 'anybody'
