It wouldn't fold

Following sentence is from an article about embezzlement charges.

"She was trying to help out a friend by investing in the business so it wouldn't fold. His repayment for that investment is to accuse her of stealing," Pfingst said.

What does "it wouln't fold" mean?

Thanks,

Ryo
