It would be a good idea if

Good day,
Is the following a conditional type two?
It would be a good idea if you didn't spend your money on cigarettes.

If its type 2 then the verb in the if clause should be in the past but I saw simple present used instead of the past. For example,
It would be a good idea if you ask for permission before leaving.
How can you explain this?

Thanks to all who are willing to help.

I see them both as illogically formed. The speaker means it is a good idea. I suggest: It would be better if you didn't spend your money on cigarettes; it would be good if you asked for permission...

I can't see the difference between it is a good idea which my sentences say and the meaning which your sentences pass after doing away with a.......idea. I

Don't be surprised if you see teachers taking different approaches to a question, focusing on one aspect or another - even to the point of disagreeing entirely. That happens here a lot, and that's what makes life interesting. My point was that there is no condition to the idea being a good one. It is a good idea, without any pending conditions. So, I wouldn't use the conditional
