It wasn't [a] robbery but [a] sexual assault.

Hello.


Which of the sentences below is correct? If both, then what is the difference between them?

1) It wasn't robbery but sexual assault.
2) It wasn't a robbery but a sexual assault.

I know that both 'robbery' and 'assault' can be either countable or uncountable, so I incline to say that the two above sentences are grammatically correct, and which one to choose might come down to the intended meaning...
