Today I have a questiong regarding 'It ~ that ~ 'construction, which is used for something emphasized.
Also, what I know is that 'that' can be replaced by proper relative pronouns and relative adverbs depending on what is emphasized.
Please teachers check the below sentences abd tell me which are grammatical.
1. It was when I was young when I was into classical music. (I think it sounds weird but do not know it could be grammatical)
2. It was where I studied English where I met Tom. (I think we cannot replace that for where and this sentence is ungrammatical)
3. It was it that I pained black. (Again it sounds weird to me)
4. It was him that painted it black. (I think it is grammatical)
As always many thanks native English teachers. ?
