It was founded needs repair, correct ?

The Nara Building ______ which Fujiwara Indust resided since it was founded needs a lot of updating and repair.
(1) in (2) on

Its correct answer is (1) in. The question I want to ask you is not on what is the correct answer but is whether or not the sentence in the above is right in grammar.
I think the sentence should be like this.
"The Nara Building in which Fujiwara Indust resided since it has founded needs a lot of updating and repairing."

"It was founded" is under passive voice so I think there has to be a preposition like something between "founded" and "needs".
And also it should be "repairing",not "repair".
I couldn't understand the sentence in the above. Is it right in grammar ?

Thanks in advance.

The original sentence is fine. The bracketed phrase is the subject of the main clause; its verb is 'needs'. [ The Nara bu ilding in which Fujiwara Industries resided since it was founded ] needs a lot of updating and repair.

Ah~~~Thank you so much,Mr.Micawber. I thought "needs" is conducting a role of "noun". Now I could fully understand it. Thanks again,Mr.Micawber.
