It takes + time

1. It did not take him long to develop the character that made him famous.
2. It took 3 hours to get there.
3. It took me 3 hours to get there.

I think in #2 "take" takes one object and that in #3 "take" takes two.
If so, I'd like to know in #1, whether "take" take one object or two.
