Hi there, Should I use is or was with present perfect tense "I have ever done" in the following context?

Here's the context:
  • A year ago, I climbed to the top of a hill after trying for three hours. Oh my God, that is/was the hardest thing I have ever done.

I'd use 'is' because it's a fixed fact of your biography. Nevertheless 'was' would also sound all right.
