It is/it was/it's been/it has been

Which one is correct ?
1. It is 5 days ago that he died.
2. It was 5 days ago that he died.

Also, my memory is a bit vague but what does It's in It's been really stands for ?

It is, It was or just it has ?

Of those two, I would use the second one. ) "It's been" = "It has been". In careful writing it is good style to write out small numbers in words.

Of those two, I would use the second one. (Obviously you can say it in other ways too, the simplest being "He died five days ago".)

"It's been" = "It has been".

In careful writing it is good style to write out small numbers in words.
