It is simple. We kill the Batman.

It is simple. We kill the Batman.

I think that Batman is like names, so we do not need the but Joker said the sentence in Dark night.

Why is the the needed in the sentence? Is it correct?

Here are my assumptions:

1) Joker is just crazy, so it does not matter.

2) There are some fake Batmans in the movie, so he wanted to distinguish between them.

Or is there a reason the Batman is a correct way of writing?

I interpret it as We kill the bat man, i.e., the Joker was using the noun bat to describe him rather than referring to him by his superhero name.

I seem to rexall that in the earlier comic books he was 'the Batman'. He later became just 'Batman'.
