Essay & Composition Writing

It is neither possible nor useful to provide university places for a high proportion of young people. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

It is sometimes argued that it is neither possible nor useful for everyone to be entitled to tertiary education. While it could be true to a certain extent, I could believe that it could be beneficial and impossible for many who attend higher education.

On the one hand, there are many compelling reasons why students should be entitled to tertiary education. Firstly, in this knowledge-based society, people with formal qualifications are more likely to find employment and even land a high-paid job. As a result, the more excellent degrees gained by students, the more educated workforce can be created. Moreover, university is an environment where students can not only acquire theoretical knowledge but also cultivate practical skills. By training on diversity of knowledge in different fields, students, especially the graduates will have more opportunities to have career prospects in the future. A typical example for this is that with the effective and new approach , students will have several hands-on experiences while participating in clubs or extracurricular activities.

On the other hand,it is impossible for most people to have access to pursue tertiary education. The affordability of tuition fees is one of the significant factors leading to the possibility of attending higher education. On a personal level, when students wholly subsidize college education, they will find it not critical to completely concentrate on their studying, leading to deteriorating performance at schools as well as detrimental quality of education. On a societal level, if the political leaders make university free of charge, the enormous cost to cover higher education will put a strain on government coffers leading to reduced welfare and tax hikes. Furthermore, a surge in employment rate is questionable at best. The labor market is becoming increasingly competitive, therefore even people with college qualifications find it hard to seek a job.

To sum up, higher education attendance is beneficial for everyone as a way to gain a large amount of knowledge, however it is not feasible for almost people to be entitled to tertiary education.

You did not answer the essay prompt clearly. The examiner is looking for an answer to this question: To what extent do you agree or disagree?

It is good to know a good handful of adverbs of extent because this is a very common prompt in IELTS Task 2 essays.

Complete agreement / disagreement:
------------

completely
fully
totally
wholeheartedly

You wrote the wrong type of essay. This is an agree/disagree essay.

The transition phrases "on the one hand/ on the other hand" are only for "discuss both views" or "advantages/disadvantages" essays. They do not belong in an agree/disagree essay.

In an agree/disagree essay, you state your opinion, and then write two body paragraphs that justify your view. Do not write again

t is sometimes argued that it is neither possible nor useful for everyone to be entitled to tertiary education. I totally agree with this since universities should be for those who are qualified and desired to go. While it could be true to a certain extent, I could believe that it could be beneficial and impossible for many who attend higher edu
