It is sometimes considered that youngsters need to be punished for bad behaviours at the early age so they can distinguish between right and wrong. While I agree with this idea, I believe that adults should choose suitable punishments for kids.

Punishment plays a vital role in children's development. By virtue of chastisement, youngsters realize which are bad things that they should not do. Therefore, they will have a comprehensive thought about good and bad behaviours. Moreover, punishing children make them know that every negative actions of them brings consequences, thus ,increase their morality. For instance, once I lied to my mother about my time table in order not to go to school, she forced me to do the housework and did not let me watch TV for a week which made me feel regret and realize truancy is improper as well as

Although there are plenty of punishments, adults ought to choose appropriate ones. Severe physical punishments must be avoided since they would bring more harm than good. Harsh corporal punishments not only cause physical damage but also some mental issues including depression, anxiety, ect. Instead, they may opt for light punishments such as doing housework, not hanging out, not using phone for a period of time. These ways will enable children to be more self-discipline along the way.

To summary, chastisement is neccessary for child's growth to help them differentiate which is right thing to do. However, people need to have suitable choices for their children's punishments
