It is heated and cooled "using" solar power

Hello, everyone:

I read a structure that I don't understand in my book. it says:

It is heated and cooled using solar power.

I don't understand how the underlined part is constructed.

I think it is like:

1. It is heated and cooled and use solar power.

But it sounds strange to me.

2. It is heated and cooled by using solar power.

That makes sense to me. But how could we rewritten "It is heated and cooled using solar power." into "It is heated and cooled by using solar power."? What is the transforming process? Or the original sentence is not grammatically correct actually?

Please help me solve my doubt. Thank you!
