It is famous that

Hi,

It is famous that a bear will not touch a dead body.

** ** **

Is that sentence wrong?

Does it need to be corrected into "It is well-known that a bear will not touch a dead body."?

Yes, I think your 2nd sentence (It is well-known that a bear will not touch a dead body) is the most correct one. The reason why we don't wanna use the word 'famous', is that famous means something to do with fame. ), such as Tom Cruise and Johnny Deep who are famous, not bears.

The reason why we don't wanna use the word 'famous', is that famous means something to do with fame. It's only movie-stars (etc.), such as Tom Cruise and Johnny Deep who are famous, not bears.
