It is a windy day!

Hi,

Do you often say It's a windy day, rather than a breezy day or a gusty day?

Thanks!!

Top answer

Windy or breezy both work. Gusty doesn't sound natural to me.

Thanks.

When the wind is very strong, what do you say?
It is a very windy day?

That's it. Blustery just came to my mind, as well.

I concur with Philip. The wind can be described as gusty (coming in bursts/gusts), but the day itself would not be described as such. I would use, "breezy," "windy", "very windy", or "blustery."
