IT (information technology)-based?

Hello,

I want to say a system based on IT.

An IT (information technology)-based system capable of XXX.

If i want to show what IT means.

Can i use the hyphen like this (after the parenthesis)?

Thanks.

The structure is too awkward. Define IT earlier in the text if you think you must do so, though nowadays it is no more necessary than it is to define NATO, EU, or USA. An IT-based system capable of ***.

I agree.
I was just wondering if it is grammatically correct to use

"*** (***)-***"

Thank for your reply.
