it did not or it does not?

Someone please check this sentence and correct it for me. "The gas company did make some verbal comments that it did not think assets would last as long as 50 years".

Companies usually do not speak, though. Was it a representative of the gas company (a person) who did the speaking?

I'm not sure what you are trying to say, but this sentence is grammatically correct:
