It "are"?

a question that I just want to get clear, yesterday i was looking into a book that a teacher gave to us, reading on the article, I realized that in a phrase that I can't remember right now, it mentioned the use of "it are" to refer to a thing, so, I asked to the teacher if it was correct, and he told me that it was correct in the British english...

So my question is... It is really correct?

thanks!

No, of course not. Unless it actually read something like this: 'You and it are....'

But, if I need speak:

"my glasses are on the table" other form will be "It are on the table" or "They are on the table" ??

Anonymous"My glasses are on the table" ... "They are on the table" ??
As shown above.

They are on the table.

The same is true for scissors, tongs, pliers, pants, and clothes. Refer to them as they.

His clothes are torn, and they are dirty too.
