My friend told me that my teacher would call me in the evening, but she hasn't yet, so I texted my friend asking:

Wasn't Professor J supposed to call? Or

Isn't Professor J supposed to call?

Are both useable?

If there is still time for the teacher to call, that is, the time for her to call hasn't run out yet, then I would use isn't. If i

That's reasonable. Howver, if there is still time for the teacher to call, it's also possible to use wasn't if the texter is thinking back to the time when his/her friend told him of the call.
