Says the tiger trainer:

If the tiger was to attack me I know it isn't/wasn't his intention.

Which one to use?

Neither of those sounds right to me. I suggest "If the tiger was to attack me I know it wouldn't be his intention." However, if the tiger didn't intend to attack then why would it?

I agree with your suggestion, but I would also prefer "If the tiger were to attack me....
