Isn't this construction odd?

The fragment below is taken from the book I'm currently reading, "Normal People" by Sally Rooney, who's Irish. I found the part in bold a bit odd as I had never come across such construction before. Perhaps it is only used in Irish English? Your help would be greatly appreciated.

"How long have you been together?"

"About 6 weeks. Helen Brophy, I don't know would you know her. She studies Medicine."

Nothing really odd here - it is typical of loose, broken up, fractured English people use in a casual conversation, or in a stream of consciousness. You know, I probably should have mentioned this before, but I've been seeing someone. Been with her a while.

  • Yeah.
