I have so many problems, I don't know when to use is or are, and were ot was!!! Help!

Singular ... Plural

is .............. are ....... The boy is tall. The boys are tall. (Now)

Past:

Singular ... Plural

was ........... were ..... The boy was tall. The boys were tall. (In the past)
