Hello,
I heard this in an interview on the TV when the Aussie host asked the young chef who was of Asian origin why he was able to cook so many different international cuisines at this age, to which he replied, "Coz I is a Singaporean". I never expected a chef who has been spending years abroad would have made such a mistake. Is there any exception which "is" could be used after pronoun "I". Say, "Because, I - is a Singaporean." or "Because , I, is a Singaporean." ?

He wanted to soften the previous compliment. Second he imitated how foreigners speak. Third, he wanted to make a distance from himself as being good.
