Is "wouldn't" appropriate here?

You say you're healthy, but maybe that isn't the truth. I know you wouldn't want to talk about it, but that's why I get worried, because I feel that you've been avoiding me lately.

Is "wouldn't" appropriate here as he knows that he wouldn't want to talk about it if he were still sick?

I don't see any real need for it. Why not "I know you don't want to talk about it"?

I think if I wanted "would", it would end up as 'd thus:

I know you'd rather not talk about it, ...

It seems more idiomatic to my ear that way.
