IS-WOULD

Hello,

It IS difficult to determine whether this project WOULD lead to our success.

Is it ok to use "would" here in the sense (hypothetical?)
That is, can we mix IS and WOULD like this?

Thank you.

Yes, it depends on how sure you are of adopting the project: It is difficult to determine whether this project will lead to our success, but we will probably try it anyway. It is difficult to determine whether this project would lead to our success if we decided to try it.

Ah! So "if we decided to" is implied!
Thank you!
